The Lily Connection
May 2011
Theme for the month:

This may or may not come as a surprise to you, but I am completely absent-minded when it comes to what’s growing in my yard. I have what you call a “natural” approach to gardening. Weeds are considered an additional sort of decoration to the overall flow of the area. It fits with my world view of appreciating the beauty of all things and it certainly fits in with my idea of less work and more play when you are in the fresh air of the outdoors.
I am blessed in so many ways, and one of them is the way these beautiful new beginnings pop up in my yard all by themselves. Near my front deck, there are clumps of weeds that are a mound of grey shoots all winter long and then out of no-where, these gorgeous green leaves force themselves through all the grey. The leaves are shaped like little roses. Every year, they come out and surprise me. It takes my breath away every time.
In the back yard, I have a “wild patch” of an area, where I never know what is going to come up next! One year, up sprouted a tree! Yes, a whole tree! I love where it landed, too. It is a baby from a tree I admired in a neighbor’s yard. So, all by itself, some seedling floated over to this wild patch area and decided to grow there. I love that tree.
Today, I looked over at that mysterious growing oasis and spotted these violet crocuses, rising up from the madness of vines and bushes. They are so sweet and new. They are like a little vision of hope. No matter what the jungle may bring, these little blossoms grow. Grow.

Let’s all grow little visions of HOPE this May ***

Behind the theme:
It is a beautiful sunshine Saturday today and I went outside to take a picture of my cat walking through the yard. While I was out there, I stopped to look at these things growing in my yard, walked in the house and sat down and wrote this “Connection.” I spotted the green leaf-roses first. I knew right then, this was the message. I already had my camera around my neck when I walked to the back and saw the crocuses. I zoomed in and there they were. What a glorious sight. When I see something like that, I think about the beauty within and in an instant, all the mysteries of life feel connected and complete. In an instant, I feel at one with the world. I am filled with hope and harmony. As this feeling of happiness fills my head- almost deliriously- I rush to my computer to get it out, put it into words, and give it to you. This feeling fills me up so much. And I always want to share it with you.

The Secret Place to say a little bit more:

Hi. So, here I am, feeling this wonderful flow from all this beautiful music we are sharing here and I have my new “Serenity Cards” rack sitting on top of an old bread box next to my computer where I am typing at this very moment and I am thinking of what else to share with you.

My very last thought I had was that these cards sitting next to me seem to be emitting some sort of energy~ I can feel it coming over to me, right here, right now! Just like that seedling that sprouted up a tree! The serenity cards are floating over to me and planting seeds of happiness. Do you know the actual definition of “serenity?” Well it means, unclouded, tranquil and bright.

It fits perfectly with the idea that inside you are like a little piece of sunshine. Yes, you are~ so…

See you next month!
